the oaklands, hampshire - taylor wimpey

Photon Energy has installed a total of 237.6 kWp of solar PV across 184 properties at the Oaklands Development in Church Crookham, Hampshire, for Taylor Wimpey.

The ‘Oaklands’ is one of Taylor Wimpey’s two new large developments in Church Crookham. Each estate provides over 900 new homes for the local community.

Photon Energy had a project team working on this large development between 2012 and 2015 who developed a variety of solar PV designs to suit the 35 different styles and orientation of the 2-4 bedroom homes.

The systems were sized between 0.96 kWp and 1.44 kWp, containing between 4 and 6 modules.

A total of 990 LDK 240 KW modules and 184 of the SMA inverters were installed, providing the estate with an approximate annual output of 180,000 kWh of green energy per year, and saving 98.4 tCO₂.

Rikki Baker, Project Engineer of Photon Energy said “It was a challenge to work on such a large housing project with so many different housing styles but we were pleased to be able to meet the renewable energy targets required for the site and to be able to comply with Taylor Wimpey’s tight timescales for installation."
