Proven Energy wind turbine providing power for a remote farmhouse

Photon Energy designs and installs wind and solar PV systems for isolated ‘off-grid’ locations. These systems use the output from the PV array or wind turbine for charging batteries and can also be used alongside a diesel generator. The design of these types of system is not simple and requires a detailed knowledge of the technologies, and the exact nature of the loads for which they are required to provide power.

Off-grid systems can produce either AC or DC output. For an AC system, an inverter is required to convert the DC produced by the batteries. AC systems can provide power for conventional AC appliances such as fridges, televisions etc.

Dual axis tracking system for a solar PV array

We install specialist systems such as solar trackers. The solar PV array is mounted on a special support structure that tracks the movement of the sun over the course of the day. These systems can either use single-axis or dual-axis tracking. The use of such a system can increase the energy obtained from the PV system by as much as 25%, although they are generally more expensive than a conventional fixed mounting structure.

Other Specialist Systems

Our team of engineers are able to design and install other specialist systems for a wide range of applications, such as canal locks and hybrid systems. We are happy to design a bespoke solution for your application.
