Local Authorities

Local Authorities have a key role to play in ensuring that the UK meets its targets for renewable energy and will be held accountable for new performance indicators that will focus on carbon emissions, both through council activities and on a per capita basis.

Local authorities are in a unique position to demonstrate the viability of renewable energy technologies both by facilitation through planning departments and also by leading the way in deploying renewable energy systems on their own building stock.

Photon Energy has worked with many Local Authorities, installing renewable energy systems on their own buildings, schools and community centres, as well has working with them to ensure that projects are appropriate and to maximise value for money.

With many renewable energy technologies now having payback periods of between 5 and 10 years; it makes financial sense to use a finance option to invest in a system. The revenue from the feed-in-tariff can be used to cover the cost of the finance over a 10 year term, leaving up to 15 years’ benefit from the Feed-in-Tariff.
