Grants

Low Carbon Buildings Programme

The Low Carbon Buildings Programme has now closed for electricity and heat generating technologies for both the domestic and public sectors. For electricity generating technologies (solar PV and wind) grants have now been superceded by the feed-in-tariff.

EDF Green Energy Fund

Funding rounds are twice yearly, deadlines are generally in August and February.

EDF grants are limited to £30,000 excluding VAT and at least 50% match funding from other sources is expected.  EDF will not fund projects which receive funding from other energy supply companies. A decision is normally made within 6 weeks of the deadline.

Community Sustainable Energy Programme

Funding rounds are normally every 3 months.

CSEP grants are limited to £50,000 or 50% of the total project cost, whichever is less. Match funding from other Changing Spaces Lottery funds is not permitted but any other Lottery funding is acceptable. Grant cannot be used for recoverable VAT (i.e. if you are VAT registered).

To receive the maximum £50,000 grant, CSEP looks for particular strengths in community involvement and demonstrating a high public profile.

E.ON Source Funding

Funding rounds are twice yearly.

E.ON grants are limited to £20,000, maximum of 90% of project cost and E.ON must be the sole corporate sponsors. Joint funding from matching public sector funding is accepted (e.g. CSEP/LCBP).

Scottish Power Green Energy Trust

Funding Rounds: the SPGE meets three times per annum, the first week in April, September and December.

Grants are limited to £25,000, but are typically around £10,000.  No obvious restrictions on other match funding.

Awards For All: Project-Funding in the UK

Applications can be made at any time and there is a rolling approval process - assessment and response within 6 weeks of submission.

Awards for All grants are limited to £10,000 and can only be used for projects costing under £25,000 total. The 'Awards for All' scheme cannot be used to match CSEP funding.

Landfill Communities Fund

Landfill Operators (LOs) must pay a tax to the Government on every ton of waste that they dispose of in a landfill site. The LCF allows LOs to 'offset' a percentage of the landfill tax and give a proportion of it to organisations who deliver environmental objectives, instead of paying it as tax to Government.
