Wind Turbines

We install a range of wind turbines suitable for the domestic market. The turbines we supply must be ground-mounted and cannot be attached to a building. All ground-mounted wind turbines require sufficient access to raise and lower the turbine for routine maintenance; more details on where to site a wind turbine are available here.

We are an approved installer under Micro-generation Certification Scheme, and we have signed the REAL Assurance Code which has been approved by the Office of Fair Trading and governs how we deal with domestic customers.

In general we do not recommend that a turbine is installed in an urban or suburban area as there will be issues with planning permission and generally the turbine performance will be poor due to lower wind speeds.

Please be aware we do not supply domestic-scale building-mounted wind turbines. There are turbines available for this application but there are still questions regarding their performance. An independent review of these types of turbines can be seen at Warwick Wind Trials. However, we do supply 3 small turbines which are well suited for domestic use or smallholdings in rural areas.

If you are interested in a larger turbine, please look at the Agricultural section.

Skystream 2.4 kW

The Skystream turbine is a new turbine designed specifically for the domestic and rural markets. The turbine has a sophisticated blade design to minimise blade noise. As the control equipment is mounted in the generator unit, there is no space requirement for it to be mounted inside. The Skystream is available on a 10-metre mast.

Evoco Airsurfer 1.5 kW

The Evoco Airsurfer is a brand new 5-bladed wind turbine, designed in the UK and manufactured in China and is available on a 12-metre mast.

How to Proceed

If you are interested in having a wind turbine installed, please look at our wind turbine siting guidelines and obtain an estimate of your wind speed from the NOABL database

If your windspeed is close to than 5 m/s on the NOABL database and you are interested in having a wind turbine installed, please contact us.
