Solar PV

We install solar PV for the domestic market as well as Schüco’s Premium Line combined solar PV and solar water heating systems.

We do not install solar water heating systems or air source heat pumps for domestic customers.

We are an approved installer under Micro-generation Certification Scheme.

We are also an NIC EIC approved contractor so your installation is automatically certified under the Part P of the Building Regulations.

We have signed the REAL Assurance Code which has been approved by the Office of Fair Trading and governs how we deal with domestic customers.

Suntricity Solar PV

For the domestic sector, we have designed 3 standard solar PV systems for the domestic market, although we can also provide bespoke systems.

Our Suntricity systems are supplied with a comprehensive user manual on CD and a simple user guide. We also supply a free energy monitor so you can see how much electricity you are using at any time.

Suntricity 1 – an 11m2 solar PV system with 8 solar PV modules. On a south facing, unshaded roof, this 1.4 kWp system will generate around 1,150 kWh/year – around 30% of the average household’s electricity use.

Suntricity 2 – a 16.5m2 solar PV system with 12 solar PV modules. On a south facing, unshaded roof, this 2.1 kWp system will generate around 1,700 kWh/year – around 50% of the average household’s electricity use.

Suntricity 3 – a 22m2 solar PV system with 16 solar PV modules. On a south facing, unshaded roof, this 2.8 kWp system will generate around 2,250 kWh/year – around 70% of the average household’s electricity use.

We offer a full survey, supply, installation and commissioning service for all our renewable energy systems. Our Suntricity systems can also be designed for larger roofs.

All our Suntricity systems qualify for the feed-in tariff.

Premium Line Solar PV and Water Heating

Although we do not offer solar water heating systems on their own to the domestic market, we do offer the Schüco Premium Line – a unique combined solar PV and solar water heating system in the same system frame.

This high quality and versatile system can be either mounted as a retrofitted, “bolt-on” system or integrated into a roof.

How to Proceed

If you are interested in having a Suntricity or Premium Line system installed at your home, you will need to answer the following questions:

Do you have a roof with a southerly aspect?

Ideally your roof would be south facing, but a system can be installed on a roof facing anywhere between due east or west. A PV system facing east or west will generate approximately 85% of the electricity of a system facing due south.

Do you have at least 12 square metres of roof area available?

We need to mount a minimum of 8 PV modules on your roof. Each module is approximately 1.3m high and 1m wide. For this reason you need an area of either 1.5m high by 8.5m wide or 3m high by 4.5m wide.

Is your roof free from obstructions?

We cannot mount modules over air vents, velux windows or other obstructions which may be on your roof.

Is your roof free from shading?

If part of your roof is in shadow for large parts of the day then it is not suitable for a PV system.  Even if only a small portion of the system would be in the shadow, the overall output of the system will be greatly reduced. This is because of how the modules are connected together in series – if one module has a reduced output because of the shadow, it will inflict this reduction on all of the modules it is connected to.

If you can answer “yes” to all of these questions and you are still interested in having a Suntricity system installed at your home and would like a quotation, please contact us.
